I was forwarded this email. These emails bother me. So, I wrote a response and thought I'd post it here.
This one sure does!
U.S., U.K. and Australia
THIS ONE PACKS A FIRM PUNCH
Here is a woman who should run for Prime Minister!
Written by a housewife in New Brunswick , to her local newspaper. This is one ticked off lady.
First of all, I distinctly remember reading this before and the person who wrote it was not Canadian the last time I read it. The next two paragraphs show that the person is American. Canadians do not think of Washington, D.C. as their capitol. This is not really a problem exactly, but more of a reason we should be put on guard about this letter.
'Are we fighting a war on terror or aren't we? Was it or was it not started by Islamic people who brought it to our shores on September 11, 2001 and have continually threatened to do so since?
There is a key word missing in this paragraph. That word is radical. Islamic people did not start a war. Islam and Christianity are similar in that they are both peaceful religions. Unfortunately there are people on both sides that use that religion for their own ends. The rest of this letter seems to extol, under the name of Christianity, that violence is okay because they did it to us first.
Were people from all over the world, not brutally murdered that day, in downtown Manhattan , across the Potomac from the nation's capitol and in a field in Pennsylvania ?
Did nearly three thousand men, women and children die a horrible, burning or crushing death that day, or didn't they?
And I'm supposed to care that a few Taliban were claiming to be tortured by a justice system of the nation they come from and are fighting against in a brutal insurgency.
I'll start caring when Osama bin Laden turns himself in and repents for incinerating all those innocent people on 9/11.
I'll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start caring about the Holy Bible, the mere belief of which is a crime punishable by beheading in Afghanistan
I'll care when these thugs tell the world they are sorry for hacking off Nick Berg's head while Berg screamed through his gurgling slashed throat.
I'll care when the cowardly so-called 'insurgents' in Afghanistan come out and fight like men instead of disrespecting their own religion by hiding in mosques and behind women and children.
I'll care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of
nirvana care about the innocent children within range of their suicide bombs.
Just a small sidenote, The word nirvana is defined as: the beatitude that transcends the cycle of reincarnation; characterized by the extinction of desire and suffering and individual consciousness (in Hinduism and Buddhism). Islamic people do not believe in reincarnation.
I'll care when the Canadian media stops pretending that their freedom of speech on stories is more important than the lives of the soldiers on the ground or their families waiting at home to hear about them when something happens.
You should care a lot when freedom of speech is taken away.
John Milton, an English political writer from 1644, advanced a number of arguments in defence of freedom of speech: a nation's unity is created through blending individual differences rather than imposing homogeneity from above; that the ability to explore the fullest range of ideas on a given issue was essential to any learning process and truth cannot be arrived upon unless all points of view are first considered; and that by considering free thought, censorship acts to the detriment of material progress.
Noam Chomsky states that: "If you believe in freedom of speech, you believe in freedom of speech for views you don't like. Stalin and Hitler, for example, were dictators in favor of freedom of speech for views they liked only. If you're in favor of freedom of speech, that means you're in favor of freedom of speech precisely for views you despise."
In the meantime, when I hear a story about a CANADIAN soldier roughing up an Insurgent terrorist to obtain information, know this:
I don't care.
When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not to move because he might be booby-trapped, you can take it to the bank:
I don't care.
When I hear that a prisoner, who was issued a Koran and a prayer mat, and 'fed special food' that is paid for by my tax dollars, is complaining that his holy book is being 'mishandled,' you can absolutely believe in your heart of hearts:
I don't care.
As I mentioned before, we cannot let the idea come into our heads that it is okay to return violence and disregard for religious choice, life, and culture because someone did it to us first. Unfortunately, Christians and Muslims have been fighting with each other since the Middle Ages. I would hope that since then, we could have learned something about the faith that we claim as our own, instead of doing the exact opposite of what it teaches.
You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.' But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.
—Matthew 5:38-42
And oh, by the way, I've noticed that sometimes it's spelled 'Koran' and other times 'Quran.' Well, Jimmy Crack Corn you guessed it,
I don't care!!
After everything else, the spelling of a book seems weak and I'm not even sure what the person is arguing against by bringing it up. Just to clarify, Koran is the English translation of the word, Quran is the modern Arabic spelling of the word, and Qu'ran (another spelling which you may have seen) is the ancient Arabic spelling of them word. (Just like with ancient and modern Greek or middle and modern English, there have been changes in the Arabic language throughout time.)
If you agree with this viewpoint, pass this on to all your E-mail friends.? Sooner or later, it'll get to the people responsible for this ridiculous behaviour!
If you don't agree, then by all means hit the delete button. Should you choose the latter, then please don't complain when more atrocities committed by radical Muslims happen here in our great Country! And may I add:
'Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But, the Soldiers don't have that problem.'
I have another quote that I would like to add, AND.......I hope you forward all this.
Only five defining forces have ever offered to die for you:
1. Jesus Christ
2. The Canadian Soldier.
3. The British Soldier.
4. The US Soldier, and
5. The Australian Soldier
One died for your soul, the other 4 for your freedom.
YOU MIGHT WANT TO PASS THIS ON, AS MANY SEEM TO FORGET ALL OF THEM..
AMEN!
GIVE THIS LADY A STANDING OVATION. SHE HAS INDEED TICKED ALL THE BOXES

I know exactly who sent this forward to you. Did you reply to her with your thoughts?
Well said!
Yes! I'm glad to see a well written rebuttal to this hateful crap. It's obvious a lot of "Christians" "don't care" that they are letting themselves get manipulated by anonymous chain letter originators who are either this misguided or else making up all this gunk knowing they can grab these forward-addicted people into passing along anything that mentions religion or politics, no matter how offensive it is, as long as it screams "Muslims are evil and you Christians are perfect and you can spread around your perfectness and save your religion by passing on this chain!" As a Christian and one of a few who are staunch chain-breakers as well, I find this kind of forward particularly offensive. Every time a "Christian" believes and passes on this crud, they are giving Christianity a black eye. It's disgusting, it's idiotic, it's hateful, it's infuriating, it's shameful and embarrassing! It's time they started caring enough to stop sending around this bulltosh!
BEAUTIFUL. RESPONSE.
Ugh my grandparents used to forward crap like this ALL THE TIME and say things like "Wow this is great think about it!". It is why I have sadly blocked emails from my grandparents - this was the only kind of stuff they ever sent me.
I have a cousin though that would write back every time with inserts of rationality, just like the ones you provided here :) Nice work!
Oh, that's another thing which really bugs me to no end - all people send are forwards. When you never hear from them unless it's to receive the latest junkmail they got in their inbox they think is so terribly special! This goes particularly flat if it's anything that preaches on the virtues of friendship. They can't be bothered to write me personally or arrange to get together with me or even surprise me with a small gift of some sort to show they care and are thinking of me, but by gosh every time they get a sappy chain letter that guilts them into a false sense of sentimentality just long enough to manipulate them into forwarding it far and wide, then all of a sudden I get an email! To top that off, not only are those chain letters sickly sweet and self-important most of the time, they are plain stupid as well. "Delete this if we're not friends!" "Send this to x people and a copy back to me, and I'll know you are my friend. If you don't, I'll take the hint. And if you get x number of copies back you have x number of true friends! Rubbish! And people who are able to refuse/decline a personal request about something not from a chain letter, or can question and deny anything else from any other source, never question these forwards. Gah!
I usually delete forwards...which is probably why I've never seen that...
I'm usually way too ticked off to simply delete, and end up tearing them apart in burning rants. I've also found that straight deleting doesn't make the problem go away, and when things are not only untrue but there are sites showing why they are untrue, I'll reply letting the people who sent the forwards know why, and encourage them to stop chain letter activity. It's better than doing nothing anyway.
This type of email is just one of many that uninformed people spread. Unfortunately, some of my own family has forwarded them. Whether it be about war, terrorism, Obama, healthcare, there is always something about someone's "opinion" and rarely any factual information. Where do these come from originally? that's what I really want to know. I too have been know for reply all rants, often with people in agreement emailing me back who I don't even know . So it's good to know that there are more rationally minded people out there.
Thanks for sharing! I want to hear about more people who CARE, where's as the person in this message, obviously doesn't, maybe about anything.
Some were originated by hoaxters who wanted to get a laugh at the expense of their target audience, others really were created by misguided individuals, and others were ripped off from someone who never meant for their writings to be changed, twisted, distorted and misused in a chain letter.
"Wow this is great think about it!". It is why I have sadly blocked emails from my grandparents - this was the only kind of stuff they ever sent me.
